542 E. Delmar: This
Sears and Roebuck Kit Home is owned by Cara and Jerry Hartfield. It is
thought to have been built around 1926. True to the Craftsman style, the
interior is comfortable and functional with numerous "built-ins"
and plans for more! While the current owners consider this a work in
progress, they're sure you will love it as much as they do.

606 E. Delmar: This red
brick, Craftsman style bungalow is deceptive...there’s more space within
than a casual glance would indicate. Built in 1927 for Emma & H. R.
Wade, the abstract of title stipulates that no house shall be built upon
said premises costing less than $2,000 and shall contain no barn or
stable. This inviting home was renovated by Phil & Joyce
Schickedanz, who retired here in 2002. more

601 E. Catalpa: A small house will hold
as much happiness as a big one. That's how the owners of this 827
square foot Tudor Cottage feel. Karl Bissman built this house in the
late 20's for E.E.E. McJimsey, the owner of the Springfield
Republican. It was a wedding present for his daughter and her new
husband, Gus Fallon. Mr. Fallon owned the local Evenrude boat
dealership. The house abounds with character. Lynne Mitchell
is the third proud owner to live in this charming home, and will be
delighted to show you around.

1025 S. Roanoke: This home has been a
work in progress since it's purchase in February 2003 by Susie
Poindexter. Built in the Craftsman style, this house is a modest
1100 square feet, yet boasts 23 windows. It has a small courtyard,
perfect for entertaining. Susie has decorated her little jewel box
in a French Country Cottage style. more info

1040 S. Roanoke: This
Mediterranean-style home was built for Walter McCanse in 1923. Friends of
ours recall playing on the lawn as children in the 1950's. The wall
separating the front and back yards was added by Bill and Paula Rosen in
the 1970's. Julie & Bill Zaslow are the sixth owners of this property and have been working
on restoring and updating the home and grounds, with fluctuating bursts of
energy and new projects, for the past thirteen years. more info

1033 S. Roanoke:
Built in 1927 as the wedding present for the daughter of a local business
owner, the home features original oak woodwork, coffered ceilings, and oak
hardwood floors. Generous use of Mission style architectural elements
inside and a symmetrical exterior illustrate the stylistic features
popular in homes of this era. A mix of vibrant colors and a blend of
decorating styles update the interior of this classic example of Colonial
Revival architecture. Bryan Sanders and Brad Ferguson invite
you to enjoy your visit to their home. more info |

537 E. Loren: This
classic 1923 Cape Cod utilizes a unique brick-over-hollow-tile
construction, has 33 windows for ventilation, radiant steam heat, a
central fireplace, an upstairs "mother-in-law" apartment with 2nd
floor porch and red/yellow-oak flooring. Occupied by the Murrell family
since 1959, a recently completed three-year total renovation retained many
original features.

1334 S. Virginia: This small cottage-like house was designed and built n 1947 by a young architect for his bride. She lived here for the rest of her life. The house was updated in the mid-nineties. There is a sense of spaciousness, with larger windows throughout. The views of the park are enjoyed all year by it's current owner Susan Sanford. | |
